Blueberries: Berry Berry Good For You!

If you could only eat one fruit for the rest of your life...day in and day out...breakfast. lunch, dinner and dessert...THIS would be it! Blueberries have one of the highest antioxidant contents of any fruit.

You hear that word a lot - 'antioxidants'. But what does it really mean? Antioxidants boost your immune system, making you less likely to get sick. They also reduce the number of free radicals in your body, which are responsible for cell damage.

These little berries nourish your body in so many ways. They can...

  • Help reduce belly fat and lower your risk of cardiovascular disease - Bring on the bikini!
  • Preserve your vision. - They'll start calling you Eagle Eyes!
  • Prevent urinary tract infections by stopping the growth of bacteria. - Yay, lady parts!
  • Prevent (and sometimes even REVERSE) the damage done to brain cells and the central nervous system. - Brain food!
  • Relieve constipation and help ease the digestion process. - No more embarrassing post-dinner moments in the restaurant bathroom for you!
  • Act as a natural antidepressant - Who needs drugs?
  • Provide you with a great source of Vitamin C - Lay off those oranges for once, why don't you!

Now before running to the store to grab some blueberries, remember that the deeper the blue color, the higher the antioxidant value! It's also very important to fork over a little more for the organic version because berries have one of the highest pesticide levels. Frozen organic blueberries are OK too!

Try throwing some blueberries on your cereal, in your yogurt, on a salad or go ahead and mix them into those Saturday morning pancakes you're making for the family!
